President Bush Signs Economic Stimulus Law But American Manufactures and Retailers Like USAB2C.com Doubt its Effectiveness Without Targeted Conditions

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- President George W. Bush has signed into law the Economic Stimulus Plan which will give a family of four $1,800 to spend, with payments being issued beginning in late May. This and other provisions in the bill will cost $168 billion. Most of main stream reporting covered how much a taxpayer will receive as a rebate. However, very few commentators focused on whether or not business leaders operating in America actually think this spending will be effective in improving an economy that is going into recession.

USAB2C.com, a Las Vegas on line retailer focused exclusively on American made products, believes that its manufacturing suppliers, which produce made in USA goods, will not significantly benefit from the plan because the plan did not go far enough.

"This plan does not require the recipient of the rebate to actually use the windfall to purchase American manufactured goods and services. In fact, one can save the money, use it to pay off credit card debt or spend it on imported bottles of French wine." said George Hanos, COO of USAB2C.com.

Mr. Hanos continued, "Both Republican and Democratic congressmen and senators should have canvassed their manufacturing bases and asked those on the front lines how to craft a proper economic stimulus package. The phrase "stimulus package" implies a kick start to your economic engine however, if the engine is housed in another country, ask yourselves 'who will benefit?'

Our domestic manufacturers did not forward their collective opinions to congress. Had they done so, perhaps congress would have worded the bill to require that the rebate be spent on products that would truly benefit the smaller domestic manufacturer."

Economic statistics published over the last seven years have shown that most job growth occurs at the small business level, not the large multi-nationals. "How could unrestricted spending benefit our small struggling business enterprises when most consumer spending occurs on imported goods?" queried Mr. Hanos.

A recent blog in www.USAB2C.com 's soapbox section humorously highlights this phenomenon with an average American contemplating the difficulty in finding available jobs. all the while using foreign made products in his daily life. Mr. Hanos agrees: "We at USAB2C.com seek out small manufacturers that we can throw a spotlight on to aid in increasing their visibility in the American market. Companies such as Go-Ped Scooters of California, which has a manufacturing plant in Arizona, produces fine quality two or four wheeled scooter or quad-carts but must, at the same time, compete against cheaper imports. Many consumers have been writing to us over the last three months, asking us for American made TVs, American made golf clubs, American made flatware, American made yarn. These consumers are well intentioned and want to do the right thing in supporting American manufacturing but they are challenged in finding a product that meets their expectations. We also are troubled in not being able to meet this customer demand because we have not been able to find any American made in USA TVs. We are working towards securing a supplier of American yarn and we are in the process of negotiating for American made flatware and golf clubs. I hope someone reading this article, working for an electronics manufacturer, can see that there is a window of opportunity to bring back American made electronics, especially TVs and radios. We would welcome working with that type of forward looking manufacturer."

Many business people support the conclusions expressed here by the COO of USAB2C.com. They hope that the American public will take these concerns seriously and react by looking at point of origin labels on packaging and products they intend to buy and use the rebate check for the purchase of only those goods that are made in the USA.
